Our Materials

The industry depends heavily on natural resources

While the environmental impacts associated with fabric and textile processing can be harmful to nature, there are fabrics that leave a lighter footprint. We make every effort to source sustainably, guided by our Material Ethics.

Material Ethics

Environmentally Conscious - We want to be the opposite of fast fashion. And this means our products are made from materials sourced responsibly and of the highest quality, allowing for longer life than high-street brands

Social and ethical-first - We are committed to working with partners who share our vision, are committed to making the world a better place, and value their employees as much as they value their customers

Fair - We partner with SA8000® Standard certified factories to ensure that every product on our site is produced in a way that protects workers' rights and the environment

The Materials

Cashmere

One of the most sustainable materials we use is cashmere. Originating from Kashmir, the fiber is made from non-allergenic natural goat fibers. By removing the shearling and treating it naturally before spinning it into yarn, we are able to minimize the waste produced by the industry while preserving the delicate nature of the material.

Vicuña Wool

Derived from the Vicuñas found in the Himalayas, vicuña wool is easily one of the most precious materials we work with. Once the vicuña coat is sheared, it’s spun into fibers that can be used to make scarves, socks, blankets and so much more. An impossibly soft fiber (it measures about 12 microns or 12 thousandths of a millimeter), it is produced in conditions that are safe for animals and the environment.

Organic Cotton Pique

A more sustainable solution to conventional cotton, we use cotton grown without pesticides from seeds that have not been genetically modified. Using fewer pesticides in farming means that workers’ health improves dramatically, communities can live in relative health with access to clean water and food supplies, and the land has a longer lifespan because chemicals are not damaging it. It also means the clothes we wear are safer for us since they don’t contain the myriad of chemicals often found in conventional cotton garments.

Merino Wool

Unlike synthetic materials that take up precious space in landfills, Merino wool biodegrades back into the soil. A natural fiber derived from Merino sheep, it is environmentally friendly, biodegradable, and an excellent thermoregulator. We strive to work with partners with certifications that ensure the fair treatment of animals and the respect of the environment.

Modal Satin

Eco-fabrics come in all shapes and sizes, and Modal Satin is considered to be one of the most sustainable fabrics in the market today. An alternative to silk, Modal is made from high-quality cellulose derived from beech trees. Lightweight, breathable, and durable, it is as good for you as it is for the planet.
